Returning to the area where a 1-room school house once stood I found a bullet and round ball. The bullet is 2.29″/58 mm long with a diameter of 0.48″/12 mm and weighs 1.45 oz./41 grams. There are grooves left by the riffling inside the barrel. The owner said it may be from a carbine(?) rifle his dad brought home from France after serving in WWI. Based on the size and his recollection, can anyone ID rifle the bullet was shot from?
