A homeowner avoided disaster on Monday morning after a lithium battery caught fire in his home in Ashland.
Just after 6:00am, Monday, emergency personnel were called to 603 Walnut Street in Ashland for a report of a house fire. The caller reported that lithium battery exploded in his home and was now on fire.
Assistant Fire Chief Charlie Orth was first on scene and reported smoke in the area and found the home filling with smoke.
